Adam Scott Hints at Faster Timeline for Severance Season 3

At the 2026 BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday, Adam Scott addressed fan concerns about the lengthy gaps between seasons of the hit Apple series Severance.

The 53-year-old actor spoke to media on the red carpet, discussing the production timeline for the show's next chapter. Season 1 debuted in 2022 with 9 episodes, followed by Season 2's 10-episode run in early 2025—a three-year interval that Scott acknowledged as too long.

"I think we're always trying to shorten the amount of time between seasons," Scott told Deadline. "It's more important for it to be great than for it to be fast. We're definitely planning on getting it out much sooner than the last round, which was three years and that's too long."

Behind the scenes, significant structural changes are underway. Apple completed a $70 million deal to acquire the intellectual property and all rights to the Emmy Award-winning drama. Apple Studios will now produce the series in-house, with production company Fifth Season continuing as an executive producer.

The acquisition follows a costly production cycle for Season 2, which reportedly spent approximately $20 million per episode and encountered numerous delays. Production challenges included the Hollywood strikes, COVID-related interruptions, script rewrites, and reshoots.

With the new arrangement in place, Apple is targeting a summer production start in New York for Season 3, pending script completion. The studio aims to enter production with fully finished scripts to prevent the expensive revisions that plagued Season 2. Six scripts are already completed, according to reports.

Director Ben Stiller will not be helming episodes for the upcoming season.
