Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender Step Out Together at Cannes for 'Hope' Film Festival Debut

Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender turned heads with an uncommon joint outing at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, stepping into the spotlight to champion their latest project.
The pair graced the French Riviera on Sunday, May 17, for the premiere of their film Hope in Cannes. Alongside them were fellow cast members Hoyeon Jung, Zo In-sung, Taylor Russell, and Hwang Jeong-min, as well as writer-director Na Hong-jin.
The following day, on Monday, May 18, both actors returned to the festival grounds for a promotional photo call centered on the thriller.
The film follows a tense narrative: "Reinforcements have been diverted to battle wildfires and all communication has been cut off. Hope's police outpost chief Bum-seok and officer Sung-ae struggle to defend a village of the elderly, while in the mountains, Sung-ki and the locals who set out to track the beast find themselves hunted instead. What begins as ignorance plants the seed of disaster, escalating through human conflict into a tragedy of cosmic proportions."
Vikander and Fassbender, who exchanged vows in October 2017, have maintained a notably guarded public presence throughout their relationship. The Swedish-Danish actress and Irish actor have welcomed two children together, though they rarely discuss their family life in the media.
For the festival events, Vikander opted for Louis Vuitton, while Russell chose Dior for the premiere.
