Maddox Jolie-Pitt Moves to Remove Father's Last Name

The 24-year-old son of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt is pursuing a legal name change that would remove his father's surname entirely.

According to reports, Maddox has filed paperwork seeking to officially change his name from Maddox Jolie-Pitt to Maddox Chivan Jolie. His decision comes as he continues building a career in film—he recently worked as an assistant director on his mother's project Couture, where his credits list him simply as "Maddox Jolie."

The move mirrors choices made by several of his siblings. His sister Shiloh, 20, has already completed a legal name change, while Vivienne, 17, removed the Pitt name from her playbill when appearing in a Broadway production. During her sorority initiation at Spelman College last year, sister Zahara, 21, introduced herself as Zahara Marley Jolie. The family also includes Pax, 22, and Knox, 17.

Angelina and Brad, who started dating in 2005, finalized their divorce settlement in late 2024, nearly eight years after the actor initially filed for separation in September 2016.

Zahara recently graduated from Spelman College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology, with Angelina present to celebrate the milestone. Brad's attendance at the ceremony remains unclear based on available footage.
