Angelina Jolie and Gizelle Bryant Attend Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Brunch at Spelman College

Angelina Jolie and Gizelle Bryant made the trip to Atlanta on Sunday, April 26, for a special celebration with their college-aged daughters.
The 50-year-old actress and the 55-year-old Real Housewives of Potomac personality participated in a mother-daughter brunch hosted by the Pearls of Purpose Foundation and the Nu Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. at Spelman College. Jolie's daughter Zahara, 21, and Bryant's daughter Angel, 19, both attend the institution and are active members of the sorority.
Gizelle documented the outing on her Instagram Story, sharing a photo of herself and Angel coordinated in matching pink dresses and fascinators alongside Jolie and Zahara. "Mother Daughter Magic," she captioned the image. Gizelle is herself an alumna of the same sorority.
At the brunch, Zahara took the stage to speak about her bond with her mother. The graduating senior, who is majoring in psychology with a minor in educational studies, reflected on the complexity of expressing their connection.
"When asked to speak with you all today on the value of mother-daughter relationships, it felt challenging to find the words," Zahara began, according to video shared on Instagram. "Not challenging because I don't value it, but because my mom and I have a unique, almost kindred, relationship that can be hard to put into words."
She spoke candidly about her adoption at six months old and the family values she was raised with. "Our love for each other is a found one. I was adopted at 6 months old and given some of the most special and loving people as my siblings, with a mom who raised us on the value of helping others, being kind and always striving for growth as people," Zahara explained. "These values may sound simple, but in a world where kindness is overlooked and helping others comes at a cost, I am grateful to have had a role model to show me what it looks like to be a decent human being."
Describing Jolie's character, Zahara continued: "She's the most selfless, loving and understanding woman who I get to call my mom." The emotional remarks appeared to move Jolie, who was seen wiping away tears.
Zahara, who serves as vice president of the Mu Phi chapter and plans to pursue work in youth development and mentorship, discussed the leadership opportunities she's embraced during her time at Spelman. "Through my matriculation, I have witnessed the joy and challenges that come with mentorship and the importance of having positive role models," she said. "We all know that we do not get where we are solely on our merit."
She concluded with a meaningful reflection, recalling: "I think back to a quote I saw years ago that said, 'I am a strong woman because a strong woman raised me.'" Turning to face her mother, Zahara added, "Thank you, Mom."
Beyond Zahara, Jolie is mother to 24-year-old Maddox, 22-year-old Pax, 19-year-old Shiloh, and 17-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
Gizelle shares three daughters: Angel and twin sister Adore, both 19, and Grace, 21.
