Anne Hathaway Addresses Casting Diversity in 'The Devil Wears Prada 2,' Clarifies No Jobs Were Lost
Anne Hathaway is making the rounds promoting The Devil Wears Prada 2, and she took the opportunity to set the record straight on casting decisions that have generated some confusion.
The 43-year-old Academy Award winner visited Good Morning America on Monday, April 27, in New York, where she addressed questions about the film's model casting. For the appearance, she selected a Michael Kors ensemble from the designer's fall 2026 ready-to-wear line—a coordinated jacket featuring long sleeves and lapels paired with a flowing skirt in black-and-white checkered print. She completed the look with dark pointed-toe pumps, a thick leather belt, sheer black tights, and oversized sunglasses.
During her interview, Hathaway discussed her request to the casting team to expand the range of body types represented among models in the production. The initiative sparked rumors that existing hires had been dismissed to make room for the more inclusive approach.
"It was this quick thing that happened on set, and now it's become a much bigger story," Hathaway explained. "Actually, I do want to mention some misinformation getting out there right now that people were fired because of the size inclusivity, and that just didn't happen."
She elaborated on the actual outcome: "Nobody lost their jobs. In fact, it created more jobs. It was just about making sure that so many different body types saw themselves in a moment in the script."
Without revealing specifics about the sequence in question, Hathaway noted that the scene connects to Lady Gaga's contribution to the film's soundtrack. "Isn't it better when you see so many different types of bodies up there with that?" she reflected on the visual representation.
