Anne Hathaway Credits Emily Blunt for One of Her Standout Moments in Devil Wears Prada 2
Anne Hathaway took a moment to express her gratitude to Emily Blunt during a special screening of The Devil Wears Prada 2 on Tuesday evening (April 28).
The 43-year-old star opened up about a particularly meaningful scene in the highly anticipated sequel, explaining that it came about thanks to input from her co-star during the earliest stages of script development.
"Shout out an amazing note that Emily gave when we were in the very early script stage," Anne shared from the stage. "She noticed that the core four [Anne, Emily, Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci] didn't have enough scenes together."
The actress went on to highlight the impact of Blunt's observation. "And so, I'll say one of my favorite scenes in the entire movie is when the core four are finally reunited," she explained. "And that's because of Emily's suggestion."
Hathaway also reflected on when the reality of the project truly sank in for her. She noted that the magnitude of returning to the beloved franchise after two decades didn't fully register until she was heading to the premiere itself.
"It hit me while I was on my way to the premiere. I was like, 'Oh, we did it! Oh, this is happening. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is coming out!' That was the moment for me, legit," the actress recalled.
Blunt echoed similar sentiments about the emotional weight of reuniting with the ensemble cast. "All of us together were like this very accelerated family on the first one. So to come back together, it was really powerful for me being in that table read. I was like, 'Oh sh-t, we're doing this,'" she said.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 arrives in theaters on Friday, May 1.
