Anne Hathaway Dazzles in Hand-Painted Michael Kors at 2026 Met Gala

Anne Hathaway made a striking entrance at the 2026 Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 4 in New York City, wearing an eye-catching black gown that merged fashion with fine art.
The 43-year-old Oscar-winning actress arrived fresh from the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2. She wore a custom creation from Michael Kors, who designed the piece specifically for the evening.
The dress was a collaborative effort between the designer and artist Peter McGough, a close friend of Kors. The hand-painted gown drew its inspiration from classical poetry, specifically John Keats' "Ode on a Grecian Urn."
"We used 'Ode on a Grecian Urn' by John Keats as a starting point," Kors explained to Vogue. "We loved collaborating with Anne to tell a story that is as old as time: a wish for peace, beauty, and harmony."
McGough emphasized the artistic nature of the piece, noting that the garment transforms its wearer into a living artwork. "This dress, to me, is about the goddess of a Grecian urn, and what I love about the dress is that it turns the person into an object of art," he said. "It's moving art—fashion and art, they go together for me: Fashion is wearable art."
Hathaway completed her look with Bvlgari jewelry and Roger Vivier shoes, rounding out an ensemble that celebrated both high fashion and artistic expression.
