Eileen Kelly Addresses Age Gap with Anthony Kiedis, Defends Their Relationship

Eileen Kelly is standing by her rumored relationship with Anthony Kiedis despite the significant age gap between them.

The 30-year-old published an essay titled "My Boyfriend is Double My Age" in Vogue on Tuesday, April 21, where she openly discussed dating the 63-year-old Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman. While she doesn't mention him by name in the piece, the couple has been spotted together multiple times and are widely believed to be dating.

In her essay, Kelly acknowledges that her boyfriend is "more than twice my age," describing the dynamic as "either alarming or impressive, depending on who you ask." She notes this marks her first time dating someone significantly older than herself.

Rather than seeing the age difference as problematic, Kelly expressed admiration for her partner's attitude toward their relationship. "My much older boyfriend seems genuinely excited to be with me—not like he's biding his time before he can swipe for someone better. He is fully aware that he's one lucky bastard," she wrote.

The pair met at a birthday party and later discovered they shared a connection to a Hawaiian town where Kiedis owns property.

Kelly addressed the societal scrutiny that comes with their pairing, noting that such relationships typically invite labels of "creepy" and "gross" directed at the older partner, while younger women are often branded as "gold diggers" or assumed to have "daddy issues." She revealed they've fielded numerous "unsolicited" comments, including questions about whether he's her father.

"It's incredibly awkward every time," Kelly said, though she acknowledged that power imbalances can exist in relationships with significant age gaps. However, she insisted their dynamic doesn't fit that pattern. "I have my own money, my own career, and I have my own home. I love my boyfriend, but I'm not at risk of losing everything if we break up," she explained.
