The new iteration reimagines the beloved series with fresh storylines. According to the show's premise, Hobie Buchannon—the spirited character from the original run—has risen to the rank of Baywatch captain, continuing his father Mitch's storied legacy. His life takes an unexpected turn when Charlie, a daughter he was unaware of, arrives seeking to follow in his footsteps as a lifeguard.

Meanwhile, Cody Madison, the charismatic figure fans remember from earlier seasons, now operates The Shoreline, an unofficial gathering spot for the lifeguard crew. He maintains his connection to the beach by occasionally donning the red trunks for rescue operations, serving as both mentor and friend to his colleagues while running the establishment's kitchen.

The series is slated to premiere on Fox as part of the network's 2026-2027 programming slate.
