Aziz Ansari stepped in for a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live during the show's cold open on Saturday, May 2.

The 43-year-old performer was brought on to embody FBI Director Kash Patel, introduced by Colin Jost as Pete Hegseth. During the sketch, Ansari's version of Patel addressed the recent shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner while speaking to members of the press.

Opening his remarks, the character declared: "After the attempted assassination of President Trump — another one! — we conducted an investigation that could not have been more thorough. We dotted every 'T' and bulged every 'I'!"

Responding to criticism about his leadership of the FBI, Patel posed a question to reporters: "For those of you saying I'm doing a bad job running the FBI, well, what if I told you this agency is only six weeks away from pinpointing the exact location of Osama bin Laden?" He then pivoted to the media's coverage, saying, "You guys should not be reporting the lies and the gossip. You should be reporting on the historic nature of my appointment. I am a trailblazer!"

The bit continued with Ansari's character highlighting his groundbreaking status: "I'm the first Indian person to suck at their job. Everyone says Indian people are smart, hard-working, incredibly intelligent. I prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that we can be just as incapable and incompetent as the whites."
