Michael B. Jordan in Talks for 'Battlefield' Video Game Film Adaptation
A feature film based on the hit video game Battlefield is moving forward with major talent attached to the project.
Christopher McQuarrie, the filmmaker behind the Mission: Impossible franchise, is set to write, direct, and produce the adaptation. Electronic Arts, the game's publisher, will also serve as a producer on the film.
Michael B. Jordan is attached to produce and potentially star in the project, though his involvement as an actor remains contingent on several factors, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Oscar-winning actor recently won his first Academy Award for his performance in Sinners.
McQuarrie and other producers pitched the concept to studios and streaming platforms this week, with plans for a theatrical release taking priority. Given the expense of acquiring the game's rights and assembling the creative team, the project is expected to carry a significant budget.
Battlefield, a military first-person shooter, ranks among the most popular video games from 2025. The franchise draws comparisons to Call of Duty, another beloved shooter series that also has a film in development at Paramount.
The Battlefield adaptation joins a growing slate of video game-to-film projects currently in the works. Production recently began on the Elden Ring movie adaptation, which is being written and directed by Alex Garland.
