Barry Gibb Alive: Bee Gees Legend Falls Victim to Viral Death Hoax

Barry Gibb is very much alive, contrary to a death hoax that swept through social media this week and caught the attention of countless fans.

The 79-year-old Bee Gees founding member became the target of misinformation when a "R.I.P. Barry Gibb" post went viral on Facebook, accumulating nearly a million reactions. According to TMZ, family members have confirmed his wellbeing, stating on May 26, 2026 that Barry "is healthy, happy, and living life at his Miami-area home."

Though the original Facebook post appears to have been taken down, similar false reports continue to surface online, with another death hoax appearing in Google search results for the legendary musician's name.

As the sole surviving member of the Bee Gees, Barry stands as the last link to the iconic disco group. His brother Maurice passed away in 2003 at age 53 following cardiac arrest after undergoing surgery for a twisted intestine. Robin, his other sibling, died in 2012 at 62 after battling various health issues, including liver cancer.

The Bee Gees remain among the most commercially successful recording artists in history, with hundreds of millions of albums sold globally throughout their career.
