Christine Taylor is shedding light on the couple's decision to hit the Met Gala red carpet rather than cheer on their beloved Knicks during a crucial playoff moment.

The devoted basketball fans opted for fashion's biggest night on May 4, skipping Game One of the Knicks' playoff matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers. Speaking to Page Six, Taylor, 54, explained the reasoning behind their choice.

"We were invited by a friend, so this was an obligation we had committed to in January," Taylor said. "And, you never know what night [a playoff game] is going to fall on, and he was holding true to showing up for friends."

She emphasized the personal element driving their attendance. "It really was for these dear friends who invited us," Taylor added.

Despite the glamorous evening, the Knicks remained top of mind. Taylor revealed that she and Stiller found a silver lining once the night progressed. "Here's what was great," she explained, "he could wear his Knicks orange, I happened to be wearing blue and [the Knicks defeated the 76ers, 137-98], so once we learned what the score was, we could relax and enjoy the night."

The victory gave the couple reason to celebrate both the fashion event and their team's dominant 39-point playoff triumph.
