Beyoncé Returns to Met Gala After 10 Years, Brings Jay-Z and Daughter Blue Ivy

Beyoncé graced the Met Gala red carpet on Monday, May 4, marking her triumphant return to fashion's biggest night after a decade away. The 44-year-old icon attended the event at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City with husband Jay-Z and their daughter Blue Ivy Carter.
For her comeback appearance, Beyoncé commanded attention in a striking diamond-encrusted skeleton-inspired gown, created by French designer Olivier Rousteing. The ensemble featured a sparkling headpiece and an elaborate feathered coat, honoring this year's "Costume Art" exhibition theme.
Jay-Z complemented his wife's show-stopping look in a tailored Louis Vuitton tuxedo.
The evening also marked a significant milestone for the Carter family: Blue Ivy's Met Gala debut. The 14-year-old wore a cream-colored bubble dress with a coordinating jacket, silver heels, and black sunglasses. Her attendance notably breaks the gala's standard rule prohibiting guests under 18. With Beyoncé serving as a co-chair for this year's event, Anna Wintour extended the exception to include the young fashionista.
Beyoncé's last Met Gala appearance came in 2016, when she wore Givenchy Haute Couture. Her decade-long absence makes this return particularly significant, especially given her prominent role in organizing the evening.
This year's gala celebrates the Met's Costume Art exhibition, which examines the "centrality of the dressed body" through depictions and interpretations of the human form from the museum's collection. The dress code is "Fashion is Art," with co-chairs including Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. The event draws hundreds of A-list celebrities for what remains fashion's most prestigious annual gathering.
