Billie Eilish Reveals Fourth Album Is More Than Halfway Complete
Billie Eilish is deep in the creative process for her next project. The 24-year-old artist recently opened up about the progress of her fourth album during an interview with Elle, confirming that the record is well underway.
"Oh yeah, we've got, we're more than halfway. So, that's all I'll say," Eilish responded when asked about the album's status.
The project arrives roughly two years after the release of her third album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. During the same conversation, Eilish shared her favorite part of the album-making process.
"My favorite thing in the world is listening in the car to and from my brother's house and anywhere else that I go," she explained. "Like, I'll put my phone in the center of the room and either take a video of the screen playing the song and then listen to the video over and over, or like a voice memo in the room. But that's my favorite thing in the world to do."
Eilish also discussed the dynamic between herself and her brother Finneas, with whom she regularly collaborates. She described their workflow as a mix of work and leisure: "Writing and then recording, and then playing pickleball, and then eating and then going on a dog walk and then coming back and recording more."
She emphasized the benefit of their sibling relationship when it comes to creative collaboration. "What's nice about being siblings is there's no hard feelings whatsoever. I can really say anything and so can he, and neither of us get our feelings hurt," Eilish said. "You know, when we were younger and we were doing this, I was very grump, let's say. And I'm not that way anymore. And also, he's not as like older brothery. Honestly, I can't really talk about it any higher."
The update comes after Eilish previously addressed speculation about a potential rift between her and Finneas.
For now, Eilish is stepping back from album work to focus on promoting her upcoming concert film. She co-directed Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D) alongside James Cameron. The pair walked the blue carpet together at the film's London premiere on Tuesday, April 28, ahead of its theatrical release on May 8.
