Travis Kelce Apologizes to Billy Eichner for Mistaking His Name

Billy Eichner shared a lighthearted story about running into Travis Kelce at two separate events, revealing how the NFL star made an amusing mix-up at their first encounter.
The 47-year-old comedian appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Monday night (May 4), where he opened up about meeting Kelce and Taylor Swift at Madonna's Oscar party two years prior. During that initial meeting, Kelce approached him with enthusiasm but called him by the wrong name entirely.
"He came up to me and said, 'Jimmy on the Street! I love you, man!'" Eichner recounted. "He was beaming when he said it." The Parks & Recreation star explained that despite knowing the mistake, he chose not to correct the Kansas City Chiefs tight end in the moment. "I've told this story before, and I couldn't bring myself to correct him because he's Travis Kelce. He's like 8 feet tall. Taylor Swift is standing right there. I'm not gonna be like, 'Actually, it's Billy.' So I was just happy about it."
Years later, the two crossed paths again at Madonna's 2026 Oscar party. This time, Kelce made a point to address the earlier mishap directly. "He came right up to me and he was like, 'I have to apologize. I called you Jimmy,'" Eichner said. The host responded warmly to the apology, assuring Kelce that the mix-up had actually made for one of his best stories.
During the interview, Eichner also revealed that he invited Kelce to appear on his show Billy on the Street, expressing hope that the collaboration would materialize.
