Billy Idol and Darius Rucker Take Center Stage at 2026 AMAs with Major Career Honors

Two music icons stepped out at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Monday for a night of celebration and recognition.
Billy Idol and Darius Rucker made their way down the carpet at the 2026 American Music Awards, marking a significant evening for both performers. Rucker arrived alongside his Hootie and the Blowfish bandmates Jim Sonefeld, Mark Bryan, and Dean Felber.
The evening promises to be particularly memorable for Idol, who will take the stage to perform while also receiving the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Despite his enormous influence on rock music, the legendary performer has never won a Grammy Award. He has earned three nominations throughout his career, all in the Best Male Rock Vocal Performance category, for songs spanning from 1985 through 1991.
Rucker will similarly grace the stage with his bandmates for a performance, and the evening will see him honored with the Veterans Voice Award. The country-rock frontman has enjoyed considerable Grammy success, winning twice in 1995 for Best New Artist and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, and again later in his career for another notable track.
The 2026 American Music Awards will air tonight at 8/7c on CBS, with Queen Latifah returning to host the show more than three decades after her previous hosting stint. Taylor Swift leads this year's nominations with eight nods across various categories.
