Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Settle 'It Ends With Us' Legal Dispute

The lengthy legal conflict between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has reached a resolution. The 38-year-old actress and 42-year-old actor-director concluded their dispute following a court-ordered settlement conference, with both parties announcing the deal on Monday, May 4. Trial proceedings that were set to commence on May 18 will no longer move forward.

The settlement came after approximately 18 months of litigation. Specific details regarding the agreement's terms have not been disclosed publicly, though representatives for both parties issued a joint statement addressing the resolution.

"The end product – the movie 'It Ends With Us' – is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life," the statement read. "Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors – and all survivors – is a goal that we stand behind."

The statement also acknowledged the contentious nature of the proceedings. "We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognize concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard," it continued. "We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments. It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online."

Lively initiated legal action in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment by Baldoni during production of the film, which he directed. She further claimed that Baldoni's production company, Wayfarer Studios, engaged in retaliation following her complaints about misconduct on set. Baldoni has consistently refuted all allegations against him.

The case faced significant legal hurdles before settlement. Judge Lewis Liman previously dismissed 10 of the 13 claims in Lively's complaint, including charges of harassment, defamation, and conspiracy. Three allegations—breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding and abetting in retaliation—were permitted to advance to trial. Several celebrities had been anticipated to appear as witnesses during the proceedings.
