Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Settle It Ends With Us Lawsuit With Zero Money Exchanged

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have resolved their legal battle surrounding It Ends With Us just weeks before the case was scheduled to proceed to trial, with surprising details emerging about the financial terms.
The settlement marks an unexpected conclusion to the dispute, particularly given the substantial sums that had been at stake. While Lively had not initially sued for a major monetary award, she cited potential reputational damage that could have cost her up to $300 million. Baldoni, for his part, had filed a $400 million defamation countersuit against Lively—a claim that was dismissed in June 2025.
Contrary to what many expected, the resolution involved no direct financial payment between the two parties. According to sources, "no money was exchanged between the parties … other than the lawyers getting paid, of course." The legal teams representing both sides collectively earned $60 million throughout the years-long proceedings.
In a joint statement released by their legal representatives, both camps emphasized their shared commitment to the film itself and to broader social causes. The statement read: "The end product – the movie 'It Ends With Us' – is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life. Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors – and all survivors – is a goal that we stand behind.
"We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognize concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard. We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments. It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online."
The settlement came at a moment of high visibility for Lively. Just hours after the agreement was announced, she made her way to the Met Gala, where she turned heads in an archival Versace gown from the spring 2006 collection.
