Bob Odenkirk Credits Physical Training for 'Nobody' With Aiding His Recovery From 2021 Heart Attack
Bob Odenkirk is reflecting on a pivotal health crisis from his past.
The 63-year-old Emmy-winning performer experienced a heart attack during the summer of 2021 while on the set of Better Call Saul's final season in New Mexico. In recent remarks, he's credited the intensive physical conditioning required for his action thriller Nobody with helping him weather the medical emergency without lasting consequences.
"That training and physical exercise really helped me survive the heart incident with no lingering damage—which is the best," Odenkirk shared in an interview with Men's Health. "I'm doing well."
The actor detailed his current health regimen, noting that he now relies on minimal pharmaceutical intervention. "I've got two stents, and they're doing great," he explained. "I've reduced all my medications to the minimum. I take a statin, I take metoprolol, and I take aspirin every day."
Beyond the physical aspects of his recovery, Odenkirk reflected on the broader perspective the incident gave him. "I'll tell you, if you ask me how it affects my life, it's really about experiencing the moment you're in, valuing it, and appreciating the world that's pretty miraculous around us right now," he said.
Nobody premiered in 2021, the same year as his heart attack. Odenkirk subsequently returned for the franchise's sequel, which arrived in theaters in 2025.
