Bravo Shoots Additional Scene for 'In the City' Premiere to Address Amanda Batula and West Wilson Romance

Bravo has revealed plans to tackle the Amanda Batula and West Wilson relationship storyline head-on in the upcoming Summer House spinoff.
The network filmed a fresh scene specifically designed to address the fallout surrounding the pair's budding romance, which will air during the series premiere. Bravo chairman Frances Berwick explained the decision to The Ankler, noting that the network opted not to include the footage in Summer House's regular programming.
"In the City, which launches in a couple weeks, you'll see in the first episode we have a new scene that we shot with a couple of the cast members," Berwick said. "So, we did pick up [cameras] there but we just didn't feel like that was the right thing to do on Summer House."
The executive emphasized that the choice centered on protecting the cast's mental health. "It does come back to the emotional well-being of the cast members, and we didn't think that was right. We did take a beat before we covered that. And that was obviously in the reunion last week; as everyone now knows, we taped the reunion last week."
The romance between West, 31, and Amanda, 34, sent shockwaves through the Summer House group when they made their relationship public last month. The announcement proved particularly contentious for their co-star Ciara Miller, who maintains a close friendship with Amanda and previously dated West in prior summers.
In the City wrapped filming during the fall and is scheduled to premiere on May 19.
