Bravo Exec Addresses Claims Network Is Shielding Amanda Batula Amid Reunion Fallout

Amanda Batula's standing on both Summer House and its spinoff In the City has become a focal point for viewers since her relationship with West Wilson became public. The 34-year-old has maintained her position as a main cast member on the Bravo series since its second season and holds a starring role on the spinoff.

Yet following the recent season ten reunion and her confirmed romance, significant portions of the fanbase have made clear their desire to see her exit both programs. Social media chatter has intensified with claims that Bravo is intervening on her behalf, though a network leader is now directly refuting those assertions.

"I don't know how you could watch that reunion and feel like anybody protected her from anything," says Noah Samton, senior vice president of current production for Bravo and Peacock unscripted, in remarks to Variety. "This is what we do on reality TV — we tell everybody's story, and we try to tell it as best we can from a very fair point of view. We are cutting down 10 hours of a reunion into three hours total or something. So sure, stuff hits the cutting room floor. But there's never any intention of protecting somebody, or spinning it in a certain way. It's about representing what actually happened in the most fair — but also entertaining — way we can."

He further elaborated on the network's broader philosophy regarding cast members: "I would want to protect anybody on any one of our shows, to the extent of it's a cruel world out there. People are vicious on social media. I don't want anybody to get death threats. I don't want anything bad to happen. People have opened up their lives for the viewers' entertainment, and they deserve to be treated with respect and kindness. But that's different than protecting somebody."

Regarding Batula's path forward on Summer House — which will commence filming its eleventh season in approximately two weeks — Samton remained circumspect. However, he did weigh in on her potential continuation with In the City should the show receive a second season renewal.

"I do think if you're doing a show about a friend group, they do still need to be friends to an extent. So if there's a world in which Amanda made sense with that cast — sure, that's a possibility," he explained.

Samton also previewed a notable shift in Batula's presence during the In the City reunion, which was recently filmed. "What I think will be interesting is how different Amanda is on the In the City reunion versus the Summer House reunion. It's a whole new Amanda," he revealed. "I can only say so much, but it's a different cast around her. There's not the pressures, and the situation that she was dealing with at Summer House is not there for In the City. It's just different."
