Broadway's long-running production of The Book of Mormon will remain dark through May 17 after a fire broke out at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre, its home for the past 15 years.

A blaze was discovered at the venue on the morning of Monday, May 4. The FDNY arrived within minutes and swiftly brought the fire under control. While most of the theatre structure was protected thanks to the rapid emergency response, the building requires repairs before reopening to the public.

The fire was contained to the follow spot booth, and investigators are still determining its cause. ATG Entertainment, the theatre owner, and producers of The Book of Mormon jointly acknowledged the firefighters and emergency personnel in a statement, praising their quick action and professionalism.

Work is currently underway with industry specialists to restore the building to operational status. Patrons holding tickets for affected performances will receive communications through their original purchase channels with options to receive refunds or reschedule their visits.

The production team expects to resume performances in the coming weeks and will share additional details next week. The show is set to mark its 15th anniversary with a special "mystery week" scheduled for June 9 through June 14, featuring reunion appearances from original cast members Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells.
