Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Officially Unveiled With October Release Date

Activision has officially revealed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, the latest installment in the long-running shooter franchise.

The game plunges players into a conflict on the Korean Peninsula, where North Korea launches a sweeping invasion with global consequences. The narrative follows two parallel storylines: a squad of young South Korean soldiers battling for survival as their front lines crumble, and the iconic Captain Price, operating covertly across the world while evading those pursuing him. When Price's unsanctioned mission intersects with the forces orchestrating the invasion, the conflict spirals beyond anyone's control.

Developed by Infinity Ward, Modern Warfare 4 ventures into more somber and perilous storytelling territory, with escalating consequences that bring established narrative threads to an intense and emotionally resonant conclusion. The campaign takes players through diverse combat scenarios: trench warfare in Korea, close-quarters engagements in New York, fast-paced sequences through Paris, SAS operations in Mumbai, and large-scale battles to retake occupied cities. The multiplayer experience emphasizes grounded, tactical gunplay with an emphasis on fluid movement and player agency. The DMZ mode positions players as covert operatives deep in enemy territory, where extraction missions force strategic decisions about which targets matter most and when to make an exit.

The title arrives October 23, 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. This marks a significant milestone: Call of Duty's first appearance on a Nintendo platform in 13 years. Infinity Ward collaborated with Digital Legends to build a native version specifically designed for the Switch 2 hardware.

Pre-orders are now open, with a special incentive for returning players: existing Call of Duty owners qualify for a 10% discount on the Modern Warfare 4 Vault Edition.
