Carlacia Grant on the Final Season of 'Outer Banks': What She Wants Viewers to Remember

Carlacia Grant is reflecting on her journey with Netflix's 'Outer Banks' as the series heads into its fifth and final season.

The 35-year-old actress entered the show's universe in season two as a guest star, eventually becoming a series regular by season three in the role of Cleo Anderson. Now, with the show's conclusion on the horizon, Grant has opened up about her time on set, the warmth of her castmates, and her vision for the character's sendoff.

Grant recalled her early days observing the original cast at work during the pandemic. "I remember sneaking onto set—this was during COVID—to watch them work and see how playful they were and how much fun they were having," she told Seventeen. "That's when I knew this was going to be a fun ride. We ended up exchanging numbers and hanging out that same day."

Joining an established ensemble came with its own set of considerations. "I got to step into something that was already loved, which is amazing. But yeah, there's definitely pressure that comes with that," Grant acknowledged.

The character of Cleo has resonated deeply with audiences, particularly among viewers who see themselves represented on screen. "I've had people—especially dark-skinned women—tell me they feel seen because of Cleo, and that means everything," Grant shared. "I also love seeing all the edits fans make; they're so creative. And it still makes me smile when people yell, 'Cheese on bread,' at me in the street."

As the series builds toward its conclusion, Grant hopes the final season showcases Cleo's evolution and resilience. "She risks everything for the people she loves, and this is her most important fight. I want people to see that no matter what you go through, it's important to never give up hope and to stay true to yourself."

Netflix recently released first-look images and a teaser trailer for the upcoming season five.
