Carrie Underwood Goes Full Belle as American Idol Celebrates Disney Night with Jennifer Hudson
Carrie Underwood brought the magic of the House of Mouse to the American Idol judging panel this week, stepping into character as the beloved Disney princess Belle.
The 43-year-old judge channeled the iconic Beauty and the Beast heroine in her signature yellow ball gown during Monday night's live episode (April 20), marking the show's special Disney-themed installment. Underwood, who won season four of the competition series, was joined at the judges' table by guest panelist Jennifer Hudson, a fellow American Idol alumna.
Hudson's appearance marked a reunion of sorts for the singing competition. The acclaimed performer came close to winning season three but was unexpectedly eliminated in seventh place, a shocking exit that proved to be merely a stepping stone in what would become an extraordinary career. Hudson has since become one of the most celebrated Idol graduates, earning EGOT status as the youngest woman to achieve the prestigious quadruple crown of Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards. She now hosts her own daily syndicated talk show.
For Monday's Disney Night episode, the Top 9 remaining contestants took to the stage with selections from the expansive Disney catalog. The night concluded with two performers receiving elimination from the competition.
The show has already previewed next week's theme, with contestants set to perform hits from one of the world's most prominent recording artists. A well-known comedian will guest judge that episode.
