Chace Crawford Clarifies His Romantic Status During 'Gossip Girl' Run

Chace Crawford has settled a question about his time on one of television's most talked-about shows: he stayed out of the dating pool with his fellow cast members.
The actor sat down for an episode of the podcast Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard, where the conversation turned to the perils of working on a show surrounded by attractive co-stars. Shepard posed the question directly, admitting he likely would have struggled to maintain professional boundaries in that situation.
Crawford's response was straightforward: he never pursued a romantic relationship with anyone on the set of Gossip Girl.
"Some of them dated each other," Crawford explained. "There's things that happen or connections that happen. I mean, I never dated anyone on the show."
He went on to describe how he met people during that era of his life, noting that the show's orbit included numerous guest stars and visiting talent. "There'd be people, I remember there's a lot of guest stars and people in the orbit of the show that you'd meet through other friends. And I remember that was a way to meet people," he shared.
Crawford also reflected on the unique atmosphere of working on the series, comparing it to the college experience. "When you're young, it is a different thing. Because it is like a college experience, it's all different. Everyone's kind of single or dating or whatever, everyone's sort of up for whatever. Nobody's married, the stakes are very low, so it is a funnier, more college-like school experience," he said.
Crawford played Nate Archibald throughout the show's six-season run from 2007 to 2012, starring alongside Penn Badgley, Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, and Ed Westwick, among others. While Crawford kept things professional, the same wasn't true for all cast members—Blake Lively and Penn Badgley famously dated during their time on the series.
