Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve Premiere 'Backrooms' Horror Film in Los Angeles

Oscar-nominated stars Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsve made their way down the red carpet Thursday evening for the premiere of their new horror film Backrooms, presented by A24, Chernin Entertainment and BeyondFest at the Aero Theatre in Los Angeles.
The screening brought together an ensemble cast that included Mark Duplass, Lukita Maxwell, and Finn Bennett, alongside director Kane Parsons. Following the film's presentation, the cast participated in a Q&A session to discuss their experience bringing the project to life.
The evening concluded with guests heading to a post-screening reception held at Siete at Santa Monica Proper Hotel.
The film centers on an unusual portal that materializes in the basement of a furniture showroom. Backrooms draws inspiration from Kane Parsons' web series and the internet horror phenomenon known as "Backrooms" creepypasta, a broad category encompassing horror stories shared online. Will Soodik penned the screenplay.
A24 will bring Backrooms to U.S. theaters on May 29, 2026.
