Christopher Abbott is celebrating major life milestones. The 40-year-old actor stopped by the Today show to discuss his Tony-nominated Broadway role in Death of a Salesman, where he also shared his joy about his growing family.

During the interview, Today co-host Jenna Bush Hager brought up the exciting news. "Can we say congratulations? You're expecting a babe," she said.

Abbott responded with humor, quipping that he initially thought she was referring to his Tony nomination. He acknowledged the whirlwind of recent events, describing it as "too much" happening at once between his theatrical accolades and the pregnancy announcement. Still, he emphasized that it's "very exciting" and thanked Bush for her warm wishes.

The pregnancy was confirmed last month, and Plaza subsequently appeared on the Smartless podcast to express her enthusiasm about becoming a mother.

Abbott and Plaza's professional connection spans several years. The two first collaborated in summer 2019 on the independent film Black Bear, which they later premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020. Their working relationship continued when they starred together in the off-Broadway production Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, which ran from October 2023 through January 2024.

Abbott's current Broadway engagement runs through August 9, with the production also featuring veteran performers Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf, alongside The Gilded Age's Ben Ahlers. Tickets are available for purchase.
