Christopher Meloni Welcomes Jalen Brunson's Interest in Joining Law & Order: SVU

Christopher Meloni is expressing enthusiasm about the possibility of New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson joining the cast of Law & Order: SVU.

Following the Knicks' NBA Championship victory last week, the 29-year-old point guard was asked about his next ambition. "Try to get on SVU," Brunson replied.

When asked about Brunson's aspirations during a recent appearance in New York City, Meloni—who portrays detective Elliot Stabler—offered his support. "Absolutely. I don't know if you've heard, but he's a world champion. He can do whatever the hell he wants," the actor shared with TMZ. "He's got the force of will."

The timing could work in Brunson's favor. Law & Order: SVU earned a renewal for season 28 earlier this year, creating opportunities for new characters to be written into upcoming episodes.

One significant connection that could facilitate Brunson's appearance is his friendship with Mariska Hargitay, the series' lead star and an executive producer on the show. Beyond her role on the long-running drama, Hargitay has proven to be a devoted Knicks enthusiast. She made a quick exit from her Broadway production of Every Brilliant Thing to catch game four of the NBA Finals courtside at Madison Square Garden. She was also among the celebrities who attended the team's championship parade this week.
