Clayface Trailer Drops: DC Studios Ventures Into Horror With Unsettling First Look

April 21, 2026

DC Studios has unveiled its inaugural horror-thriller venture with the debut trailer for Clayface, arriving just ahead of the film's October 23 theatrical release.

The brief teaser—clocking in at just over a minute—offers a haunting glimpse into the story's dark territory. The footage centers on Clayface, played by Tom Rhys Harries, lying in a hospital bed amid a series of disturbing imagery that appears to torment him.

According to the official synopsis, the film chronicles one man's nightmarish transformation from an ascendant Hollywood performer into a vengeful creature. The narrative explores themes of lost identity, vanished humanity, destructive love, and the sinister side of unchecked scientific ambition.

The ensemble cast rounds out the production with Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, and Eddie Marsan, alongside Nancy Carroll and Joshua James.

In DC lore, Clayface is Basil Karlo, a former Gotham actor whose career derailment triggers a catastrophic breakdown, resulting in his metamorphosis into a clay-based shapeshifter. The character occupies a complex place in Batman's rogues gallery—a tragic antagonist who wields his impersonation abilities for criminal purposes while perpetually grappling with an impossible quest to restore his former existence.
