Matteo Lane Opens Up About Split From Husband Rodrigo Aburto

Matteo Lane is addressing a major personal shift in his life. The 39-year-old comedian and actor revealed on Thursday's episode of his podcast "I Never Liked You" that he and Rodrigo Aburto have ended their marriage, following weeks of fan speculation about their relationship status.

The pair married in August 2023, announcing the union through a celebratory social media video where they wore black and red, tossed confetti, and shared a kiss.

On the podcast episode with Nick Smith, Lane described feeling uncertain about how to discuss the breakup publicly. "I'm so uncomfortable. I don't know how to say this," he began. "Rodrigo and I did break up. I know a lot of people have been asking about it. Yeah, we did break up, but the good thing about this is that him and I are still friends with each other."

Lane explained that he and Aburto intentionally kept the split private initially while processing their emotions and determining the right moment to go public. He noted that he called Aburto before discussing it on his podcast, giving him advance notice.

The comedian has also begun incorporating the experience into his stand-up material. "I've started talking about it on stage. I wrote jokes and, of course, I called him and I was like, 'Hey, I have a bunch of jokes. I want to read them over with you first,'" Lane shared. "I wouldn't want to talk on stage without you knowing."

Beyond his split from Aburto, Lane revealed he has dated someone else since the breakup, though that relationship has also ended. He emphasized that he remains on good terms with both individuals. "We're through to the other side, and I'm happy to say that, you know, they're two friends of mine," he said. "It was a difficult time to navigate."

Lane described feeling vulnerable discussing these personal matters publicly. "I just kind of wanted to be open about that and I'm feeling really exposed," he added.

On the professional front, Lane is gearing up for a significant career milestone. He is set to make his Broadway debut in Chicago, beginning performances on June 22.

Aburto is a fitness, lifestyle, and self-care influencer who has also pursued acting work. He recently appeared as a recurring guest star on Netflix's "Beauty in Black" season two.
