Fatal Accident During Setup for Shakira's Rio Concert

A tragedy unfolded during preparations for Shakira's Brazilian concert when a construction worker suffered fatal crushing injuries while assembling equipment on site.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon, April 26th, at the "Todo Mundo No Rio" concert venue. According to organizers, the worker was fatally injured while working on stage structures. Emergency responders arrived and provided initial care before transporting the victim to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The state fire brigade (CBMERJ) provided additional details about the accident. The worker sustained crushing injuries to his lower limbs from a lifting system. Colleagues at the scene managed to remove him from the equipment before emergency teams arrived.

Military personnel from the 3rd Maritime Group's ambulance service (GMAR-Copacabana) initiated emergency care and transported the victim to Miguel Couto Municipal Hospital. Despite the rescue team's efforts, the worker could not be saved.

The concert organizers expressed condolences in their statement, while authorities continue to document the circumstances surrounding the workplace accident.
