Cyndi Lauper Shuts Down Heckler on Vegas Residency Opening Night
Cyndi Lauper didn't hesitate to address a disruptive audience member during her Las Vegas residency debut.
The 72-year-old Grammy-winning icon kicked off her limited-engagement run at The Colosseum at Caesar's Palace on Friday, April 24, with the show set to continue through May 2. During the performance, as Lauper was introducing "Sally's Pigeons," someone in the crowd shouted out, prompting an immediate response from the stage.
"I don't know what the f–k you're saying, hon. But please remember where you are, OK? Because if you're trying to shade me, b—h, I'm gonna come for you. I'm from Brooklyn, and if I wanna f–king talk, I will do a tap dance if I f–king want. Sorry, that of course is not part of my people skills," Lauper fired back.
The audience erupted in applause at her candid reaction, and Lauper smoothly transitioned back into her performance without further incident.
This Vegas engagement marks another milestone for the legendary performer following her "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" farewell tour, which concluded last summer. Though she initially indicated plans to scale back her schedule after that tour wrapped, Lauper has continued to take on select live appearances.
