Daryl Sabara Shares Tribute Following His Father's Passing

Daryl Sabara is mourning the loss of his estranged father, Roland Sabara, who passed away on June 19.
The 34-year-old actor revealed the news through an Instagram post on Friday, sharing a selfie alongside a heartfelt message. "We only saw each other a couple of times, and I will cherish those memories forever," Sabara wrote, adding that he believes his father "did the best he could" and is "in a better place now."
The actor's relationship with his father was marked by absence—Roland left when Daryl was just one year old. This formative experience shaped how Sabara approached fatherhood with his own family. He shares three children with his wife Meghan Trainor: sons Riley, 5, and Barry, 2, and daughter Mikey, born in January 2026.
During a 2023 interview with Mr Feel Good, Sabara opened up about how growing up without his father influenced his parenting philosophy. "I didn't have that traditional role model growing up and for me, especially as I'm about to be a dad of two boys, I feel like that was a blessing in some ways," he explained. "I am able to create what that relationship is for me and my sons."
He credited his mother with filling both parental roles during his childhood, though he acknowledged through therapy work that parental influence operates on deeper levels. "Our parents subconsciously imprint onto us," he reflected. "Right now, I'm just figuring out the parts of me that I like and I want to teach my kids, and the parts of me I am not as sure about."
A particularly poignant moment came when his eldest son reached his first birthday. "When Riley turned one, I had this kind of breakdown, as I'd surpassed the amount of time my dad was with me," Sabara shared. "I couldn't imagine ever leaving my son."
