Daveigh Chase's Former Manager Disputes GoFundMe Started by Man Claiming to Be Her Boyfriend

The death of actress Daveigh Chase this week has been marked by controversy surrounding a fundraising campaign launched in her name. Chase, who passed away at 35 after battling meningitis that developed into septic complications, had been hospitalized earlier in the month for malnutrition. Her boyfriend Roy Hernandez initially confirmed her passing.

However, the GoFundMe page that emerged following her death has now drawn scrutiny from those close to the actress. In the campaign, Hernandez stated that he met Chase after she experienced a "painful falling out with her family" and that he created the fundraiser to provide her with a "sense of home and peace in her final days."

Chase's former manager and longtime friend pushed back against the campaign, speaking with TMZ to express serious reservations. "A man claiming to be Daveigh's boyfriend has launched a GoFundMe page purportedly on behalf of Daveigh and her family. Neither her family nor her close friends know who this person is. I can confirm Daveigh has a SAG trust account with more than enough funds to cover all medical and related expenses," the manager stated.

The manager and others close to Chase are advising against donations to the page. In response, Hernandez told TMZ that he intends to use the GoFundMe proceeds to organize a "proper memorial" for the actress.

Meanwhile, Chase's father has begun coordinating with the hospital regarding arrangements for her remains.

Chase's career spanned film, television, and voice acting. She gained widespread recognition for playing Samara Morgan in The Ring, voicing Lilo in Lilo & Stitch, and providing the English-language voice for Chihiro in Spirited Away.
