Deadliest Catch Season 22 Premiere Set for May 8, Network Reveals How Series Will Honor Todd Meadows
Discovery has unveiled the premiere date and debut trailer for Deadliest Catch's 22nd season, arriving nearly two months after the tragic death of crew member Todd Meadows during production.
The long-running reality series will launch Friday, May 8th at 8pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel. The network has also revealed how the show plans to honor Meadows and commemorate his loss.
Meadows will appear in episodes throughout the season leading up to his death, but the incident itself will not be depicted on screen. Despite the Aleutian Lady having cameras aboard, Discovery made the decision to exclude that footage as a mark of respect to Meadows' family and loved ones.
The season premiere will include a tribute to Meadows and explore how his passing has affected both the crew and the broader fishing community.
This season sends the fleet on a new expedition as a king crab population emerges far to the north. The captains will relocate 225 miles to St. George Island, navigating colder conditions and rougher seas than previous seasons as they pursue their catch in shifting waters. For the first time in decades, the fleet abandons its traditional fishing grounds to pursue a rare strain of Red King Crab in the remote, frozen waters of the far North. This valuable catch lures the boats into uncharted territory, demanding everything from the captains' experience and determination as they operate at the world's edge.
