Denise Richards Shares Heartfelt Tribute Following Patrick Muldoon's Death

April 20, 2026

Denise Richards is remembering Patrick Muldoon following his unexpected passing. The Days of Our Lives actor died suddenly over the weekend at 57 from a heart attack.

The pair's connection stretched back decades. They first met in acting class when Richards was 19 with no professional credits, while Muldoon, then 21, was a USC student appearing in a recurring role on Who's the Boss. They went on to star together in Starship Troopers in the late 1990s before eventually ending their romantic relationship. Despite the split, their bond remained strong, and they were spotted together at the 53rd Annual Saturn Awards on March 8, 2026.

In a lengthy statement, Richards opened up about the profound impact Muldoon had on her life. "This is so hard for me to put into words. I am deeply heartbroken & devastated losing you. You were my best friend & my family," she wrote, reflecting on their 36-year friendship that spanned her entire adult life.

Richards praised Muldoon's presence and character, noting his magnetic personality and talent. "You lit up every room you walked into. You are larger than life & Everyone was drawn to you. So talented & most underrated actor. And most humble. Everything you did was infectious. Your laugh, your kindness, your wit, your strength, your loyalty, your passion, and your zest for life," she shared.

The actress emphasized the mutual support they had provided each other over the years. "We've been each other's rock. Our memories together are endless. You've had my back and protected me more than anyone," she continued.

Richards also addressed the personal void his loss has created. "I don't know what I'm going to do without you here. You're my voice of reason & pillar of strength. Especially during this last year of pain & heartache. And now I need you more than ever, for this pain and heartache losing you."

In her closing remarks, Richards referenced conversations the two had shared about growing old together. "Schweetbabe we've had those conversations.. We thought we'd live forever or at least into our 90's. Schweetbabe I will be looking for those signs. I need to know you're still here with me. I love you so much & miss you dearly schweetbabe."

Richards' daughter has also paid tribute to Muldoon. The thoughts of many are with Richards and all those mourning Muldoon's passing.
