Dennis Quaid is moving to discontinue his monthly child support payments to Kimberly Buffington as their twins prepare to finish high school.

The Substance star, 72, has filed a petition to cease the $13,750 monthly payments for their 18-year-old children following their high school graduation in the coming weeks. According to their 2018 divorce settlement, support obligations could terminate "when a child completes 12th grade (if still under 19 and a full-time high school student) or reaches the other enumerated endpoints, whichever occurs first."

Beyond the standard monthly support, Quaid is also liable for additional yearly payments to Buffington if his income exceeds $1,314,000. In his filing, he's requesting that this supplemental amount be "prorated to each child's graduation date rather than using Dennis' full-year 2026 income."

The pair married in 2004 and welcomed their twins in November 2007 before divorcing in 2018. Buffington is Quaid's third ex-wife.

Recently, Quaid has also made headlines for his political commentary, describing President Donald Trump as "genuine" and committed to his voters' interests. "He wouldn't be president if he wasn't genuine because people, the people who voted for him, know that he has their best interest at heart, that he is a genuine person," the actor stated.
