Diego Luna is set to become part of Disney's forthcoming live-action reimagining of Tangled.

The 46-year-old actor, recognized for his work in Rogue One: The Star Wars Story and the series Andor, is taking on an original character crafted specifically for this new film adaptation. Production will kick off in Spain during June.

Luna joins a cast anchored by Teagan Croft and Milo Manheim, who will portray the central characters Rapunzel and Flynn Rider respectively. Kathryn Hahn rounds out the ensemble as the antagonistic Mother Gothel. Nathan Greno and Bryan Howard are directing the project.

A decorated performer, Luna carries two Emmy nominations and three Golden Globe nominations on his résumé. Beyond his Star Wars involvement, his career spans telenovelas and acclaimed films including Y tu mamá también and Kiss of the Spider Woman, among others.

His upcoming slate includes the thriller Eleven Days and a Mexican-Spanish drama titled A Mouthful of Ash, which he directed and co-wrote.

Manheim recently reflected on his casting in the adaptation, discussing his approach to the role and his own theatrical experience with the original film. The actor recalled attending a screening alongside his cousin Noah when he was nine years old, noting the serendipitous nature of the opportunity. "I just didn't think that it would ever be a perfect storm for something this important to me, and it was. I'm still pinching myself," he shared.
