Shohei Ohtani and Mamiko Tanaka Announce Birth of Second Child

The Los Angeles Dodgers' star pitcher Shohei Ohtani has expanded his family. The 31-year-old athlete and his wife Mamiko Tanaka, a 29-year-old former basketball player, have welcomed their second child.

Ohtani's absence from the Dodgers' matchup against the Baltimore Orioles on Friday, June 19, preceded the announcement. The following morning, the couple shared the news on Instagram with a joint statement.

"We are again overjoyed to experience this wonder day in our lives," they wrote. "Thank you for being born safely."

The couple continued: "We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported us throughout this journey."

They posted a photograph showing the newborn's feet swaddled in a blue blanket but kept other details private, refraining from disclosing the baby's gender or name.

This marks the second addition to their family. Ohtani and Tanaka welcomed a daughter in April 2025.
