Dwyane Wade's Son Zaire Arrested on Domestic Violence Charges

Zaire Wade, the eldest son of basketball icon Dwyane Wade, was taken into custody on Sunday, June 21, in Burbank, California on suspicion of domestic violence, according to law enforcement officials who spoke with NBC4.

Officers responded to a residence in the area at approximately 5:30 am after receiving a report of a woman screaming. Upon arrival, police discovered Zaire and a female who displayed injuries including lacerations to her face and body.

Following interviews with both individuals at the scene, Zaire was arrested and booked on three separate charges: felony domestic violence, criminal threats, and false imprisonment, TMZ reports. Authorities also recovered a handgun from the property.

Paramedics attended the scene to evaluate the injured woman. Though she sustained visible injuries, she declined hospital transport.

An emergency protective order was issued as part of the police response. Zaire was released the same day after posting a $50,000 bond. Prosecutors at the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office will review the case to determine what charges, if any, will be filed.

The 24-year-old is one of Dwyane Wade's four children. He shares Zaire and 19-year-old daughter Zaya with former spouse Siohvaughn Funches. Wade is also father to 12-year-old son Xavier, whom he shares with Aja Metoyer, and 7-year-old daughter Kaavia with current wife Gabrielle Union. Additionally, Wade obtained full custody of his nephew Dahveon Morris in 2011, who is now 24 years old.
