Edward James Olmos Reflects on Reconnecting With Jennifer Lopez at Office Romance Premiere

Edward James Olmos and Jennifer Lopez came together once again at the Office Romance premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday, May 26, reuniting on screen as father and daughter for the first time in nearly 30 years.

The pair previously shared the screen in 1997's Selena: The Movie, where Olmos portrayed Abraham Quintanilla, Selena's father, while Lopez played the titular role. In their new Netflix project, Olmos takes on the role of Captain Jack Cruz, the father of Lopez's character.

Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere, Olmos opened up about the significance of working with Lopez again after so many years.

"For me, it was very emotional," he shared. "And still is, you know. [It's a] strong understanding of decades, watching our own growth and watching each other's growth."

He continued to express his appreciation for their partnership across the years. "It's been beautiful," Olmos said. "We're lucky we got to do work that was profoundly a cultural, heartfelt. And when we did Selena, it was just beautiful. It was something that I wish people had realized what a performance she gave. It was unbelievably prolific, that performance."

Olmos's involvement in Office Romance was announced more than a year ago. The film is set to premiere on Netflix on June 5.
