Elizabeth Banks Set to Lead Apple TV+ Comedy Series Centered on Retirement Community Romance

April 22, 2026

Elizabeth Banks is the latest addition to Apple TV+'s comedy lineup. The 52-year-old Emmy-nominated performer has been cast to headline a fresh series exploring life after a difficult breakup—and the unexpected complications that ensue.

The untitled project hails from writers Liz Heldens and Matt Ward. According to the show's premise, Banks plays Heidi, a woman navigating the challenges of single parenthood following a contentious divorce. Her plans for reinvention take an unexpected turn when she becomes responsible for arranging romantic outings for her father at his retirement community, ultimately drawing her into an unforeseen partnership with his girlfriend's perpetually unattached son.

Banks will also serve as an executive producer on the series through her production company Brownstone Productions, alongside Max Handelman and Krissy Wall. Production is scheduled to commence in Los Angeles later in 2026.

The casting announcement comes as Banks continues her work on the Peacock dramedy series The Miniature Wife, where she stars opposite Matthew Macfadyen. The show centers on a technological mishap that leaves Macfadyen's character Les dealing with an unusual predicament: his wife Lindy, played by Banks, has been accidentally reduced to six inches in height.
