Ellen DeGeneres Set to Reprise Dory Voice Role in New Finding Nemo Short Film
Ellen DeGeneres is diving back into the Finding Nemo universe. The Emmy-winning former television host will be returning to voice the beloved character Dory in an upcoming short film, according to reports.
Details about the project remain sparse at this stage, though DeGeneres confirmed her involvement by sharing the announcement on Instagram, where she expressed enthusiasm about the venture. The short film marks her first foray back into Hollywood following her 2024 comedy special For Your Approval, in which she reflected on stepping away from daytime television.
DeGeneres originally brought Dory to life in Pixar and Disney's 2003 film Finding Nemo, which became a cultural phenomenon and grossed nearly $1 billion worldwide. She reprised the role in the 2016 sequel Finding Dory, which also crossed the billion-dollar threshold at the global box office. Both films have remained among the most cherished entries in the Disney-Pixar library.
The news of her return comes after DeGeneres announced her retirement from the entertainment industry during her comedy special. In recent years, she and her wife Portia de Rossi relocated from California to England. The move came as the couple sought to distance themselves from the United States during the second term of President Donald Trump.
DeGeneres built her career on her long-running talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which aired for 19 seasons before concluding in 2022.
