The Pitt is making moves for the upcoming Emmy Awards. Shawn Hatosy will be submitted in the Outstanding Supporting Actor and Outstanding Director categories at the 2026 Emmy Awards for season two of the HBO medical drama, Variety reported on Wednesday (April 29).

The 50-year-old actor portrays Dr. Jack Abbot, the night shift attending physician and combat veteran at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center's ER. Following a severe combat injury and six years of military service, Abbot transitioned into emergency medicine. While processing the loss of his wife, he channels his energy into his work and maintains openness about his emotions, helping himself and those around him face life's difficulties.

Hatosy took home his first Emmy at the 2025 Emmy Awards, winning Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for season one of The Pitt. His involvement in six of the 15 episodes in season two qualified him to move from the Guest Actor category to Supporting Actor for this year's ceremony.

Beyond his acting submission, Hatosy will also compete for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series after directing episode nine of season two, titled "3:00 PM." The episode marks his directorial debut for the series.

The Emmy submission deadline is May 3, with nomination voting scheduled for June 11 through June 22. Nominations will be revealed on July 8, and the 2026 Emmy Awards ceremony is currently set for September 14.
