Chloe Cherry on Cassie's OnlyFans Storyline in 'Euphoria' Season 3: "Crazy as F--k"

April 23, 2026

Season 3 of Euphoria continues to generate heated debate around its storylines, and the latest point of contention centers on Sydney Sweeney's character Cassie venturing into the world of OnlyFans.

Chloe Cherry, who appears on the HBO drama, recently shared her thoughts on the controversial arc during an interview with Refinery29. Drawing on her own background in adult entertainment, the actress offered a candid perspective on the normalization of sex work platforms.

Cherry attributes the rise of OnlyFans and similar sites to economic necessity rather than personal agency. "It has nothing to do with empowerment or power or anything," she explained. "What it actually 100% has to do with is just the fact that we live under capitalism and the economy is horrible. That's why people are turning to it."

Reflecting specifically on Cassie's trajectory in the show, Cherry found the narrative arc striking. "It just feels crazy as f–k to see somebody living like Cassie turn to sex work," she said, emphasizing the jarring nature of the character's decision. "It's like, holy shit, that's where we're at in society?"

The actress views OnlyFans as a defining cultural oddity of its era. "I really think that OnlyFans is a crazy, weird phenomenon of the 2020s that we will look back on and be very confused by," Cherry stated.

She also questioned the narrative surrounding sex work as inherently empowering, pointing to sensationalized media coverage that often misrepresents earnings. "People have the weirdest ideas and fantasies of sex work being like, so empowering and we've seen all these news stories where they're like, 'Oh, OnlyFans model makes $700 billion in a month,' and everyone's like, 'whoa,'" she said. "I literally just think that these things are a bit of smoke and mirrors, actually, and I don't know. I don't even really understand what it means to be on OnlyFans, honestly, I don't even really know what people are doing on there."

Meanwhile, newly released HBO promotional images from Euphoria's third season offer glimpses of upcoming developments, including scenes involving Cassie and Nate (Jacob Elordi) at their wedding.
