Drake Addresses Disloyalty on New Track 'Firm Friends' From Triple Album Release

Drake has used his latest musical release to process the fallout from his high-profile dispute with Kendrick Lamar.
The 39-year-old artist dropped a trio of albums on Friday, May 15, and on the ICEMAN track "Firm Friends," he directly addresses what he perceives as disloyalty from those around him during the 2024 battle.
In the song, Drake reflects on those who chose to stay out of the conflict, suggesting their silence amounted to tacit support for his rival. He expresses disappointment in people he once believed in, noting how such situations reveal true character and expose who would genuinely have someone's back.
The rapper also philosophizes about how most people go through life without ever discovering who their real allies are, as they simply drift along without questioning their circle's loyalty or commitment.
Rather than focus solely on criticism, Drake takes time to recognize those who remained in his corner. He specifically credits Conductor Williams, the song's producer, as well as Noel Cadastre—known as OVO Noel—who has served as his engineer and producer for years. Creative director Ref1 and longtime associate Neeks, whose real name is Nicholas Carino and who worked as a label marketing manager, also receive Drake's acknowledgment on the track.
The release marks a significant moment for the artist as he processes the dynamics of his inner circle and the broader implications of loyalty during a turbulent period in his career.
