Flavor Flav Wins Approval for SHE Weekend Honoring Female Olympic Athletes in Las Vegas

Flavor Flav's ambitious plans to celebrate America's female Olympic champions are officially moving forward. The hip-hop icon secured unanimous approval from the Clark County Commission on Tuesday, May 19, to host SHE Weekend—a four-day celebration in Las Vegas designed to honor medal-winning athletes from the US Women's Olympic Team.

The concept emerged following remarks from Trump about potentially inviting the women's hockey team to the White House alongside their male counterparts, a gesture the team declined. The idea quickly gained momentum after Flav extended an invitation to all medal-winning female Olympians for a summer 2026 celebration in Las Vegas.

SHE Weekend, an acronym for "Sports, Hospitality, & Entertainment," is expected to draw more than 100 Olympians. The festivities kick off Thursday, July 16, with a parade along the Las Vegas Strip, followed by a free concert at Toshiba Plaza. The commission's approval allows the city to close down the Strip for both events.

During his presentation to the board, Flav spoke about his personal investment in the initiative. "I just want to say thank you for giving me the opportunity and I'm honored to be able to bring these United States Olympic athletes here to Las Vegas," he told commissioners. "I am a girl dad and I am a big supporter of women's sports." The board requested his formal name for the record, prompting Flav to introduce himself as William Drayton, professionally known as Flavor Flav.

The branding for the weekend was developed by creative agency 72andSunny, which volunteered their services for the event. Several major partners have stepped up to support the celebration: MGM Resorts is providing complimentary rooms, hospitality, and entertainment; Delta Airlines, the official airline of TeamUSA, will cover athlete flights; and Joe Lewis Company, the production team behind the Grammy and Oscar ceremonies, is producing the event.

Entertainment is already lined up for attendees. The Backstreet Boys and Ed Sheeran have both invited the athletes to their Las Vegas performances, complete with private meet-and-greet opportunities.
