Apple TV Unveils Gripping Trailer for 'For All Mankind' Spinoff 'Star City'
Apple TV has unveiled the inaugural trailer for Star City, the highly anticipated spinoff from the acclaimed series For All Mankind. The eight-episode limited series arrives as a "propulsive paranoid thriller" helmed by award-winning creators Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert, and Ronald D. Moore.
The alternate history drama will launch globally on Apple TV with a two-episode premiere on Friday, May 29, before transitioning to a weekly release schedule that runs through July 10.
Like its parent series, Star City reimagines a pivotal moment in space exploration history—specifically, an alternate timeline where the Soviet Union achieved the first crewed lunar landing. This time, however, the narrative shifts perspective entirely. "We explore the story from behind the Iron Curtain, showing the lives of the cosmonauts, the engineers, and the intelligence officers embedded among them in the Soviet space program, and the risks they all took to propel humankind forward," according to the series description.
The ensemble cast includes Rhys Ifans, Anna Maxwell Martin, Agnes O'Casey, Alice Englert, Solly McLeod, Adam Nagaitis, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Josef Davies, and Priya Kansara.
The announcement comes as Apple continues expanding its entertainment slate. Earlier this week, the streamer revealed plans for a new retirement community comedy series featuring Elizabeth Banks. Additionally, Jessica Chastain shared an update on her project The Savant, which had previously been shelved following the assassination of Charlie Kirk due to concerns about its subject matter—though the actress indicated the show will now move forward.
